Flexible Packaging and Sustainability - Helping Your Business Evolve
Green, sustainability, and circular economy are no longer buzzwords in manufacturing and product packaging, but an expectation by consumers and retailers alike.
With a strong focus on developing sustainable flexible packaging solutions, Unified Flex partners with customers to help reduce their carbon footprint, energy consumption, and packaging waste, as well as providing recyclable packaging film options.
Reducing Carbon Footprint through Flexible Packaging
Flexible packaging reduces your carbon footprint, as it takes up much less space than other packaging options. For example, to package 100 pounds of a liquid, such as a beverage, you would need 78.9 pounds of glass, 10 pounds of rigid PET, or 4.8 pounds of aluminum compared to only 2.8 pounds of flexible packaging.
Gaining Efficiencies and Reducing Energy Consumption During Transportation
In addition to using less raw material, flexible packaging can ship flat, meaning it also uses the least amount of energy and fuel during transportation. The filled packages also offer greater stability and durability than other packaging types, allowing for reduced shipping costs with more products being shipped at once.
Compostable and PE Packaging Options for a Circular Economy Approach to Manufacturing
We use PE-based high-performance recyclable films for a variety of food and consumer packaging needs.
Compostable Packaging
We use ASTM D6400 certified packaging materials for our compostable packaging options. We offer PE-based filmsĀ that are compatible with Vertobagger Falcon, which is designed to produce eco-friendly packaging.
Recyclable Packaging
All of our PE-based flexible packaging options are considered recyclable in Canada and the United States, as they can be collected and separated from the waste stream through recycling programs for reuse or for use in manufacturing or assembling another item.
